Washington Commanders wide receiver Noah Brown suffered a potentially serious injury during a minicamp session on Wednesday, casting uncertainty over his availability moving forward. Multiple reports confirmed that Brown, 29, was carted off the field after catching a short pass from quarterback Marcus Mariota during 7-on-7 drills. Following the play, Brown remained on the ground for several moments before managing to rise and limp to the sideline, visibly frustrated as he tossed his helmet. He was quickly met by the team’s athletic trainers and later transported via cart back to the facility for further evaluation.

Brown re-signed with Washington as a free agent in March and was expected to play a key role in the team’s receiving corps in 2025. Unfortunately, injuries have been a recurring issue for Brown throughout his seven-year NFL career. Most recently, he suffered a kidney injury in a December 1, 2024 game against the Tennessee Titans. That injury sidelined him for the remainder of the season and forced him to miss Washington’s postseason run, which culminated in an NFC Championship appearance.

Despite those challenges, Brown made a solid contribution during his first season in Washington. In 2024, he appeared in 11 games—starting nine—and recorded 35 receptions on 56 targets for 453 yards. One of his most memorable moments came on October 27, when he caught a dramatic 52-yard Hail Mary touchdown to secure an 18-15 victory over the Chicago Bears.

Originally drafted in the seventh round by the Dallas Cowboys in 2017, Brown played at Ohio State before entering the NFL. Over the course of his career, he has amassed 150 receptions for 2,000 yards and six touchdowns in 87 total games, with stints in Dallas (2017–18, 2020–22), Houston (2023), and now Washington.

In addition to Brown’s injury, the Commanders were also missing another veteran wide receiver at minicamp—Michael Gallup. The former Cowboy and free-agent acquisition did not participate in drills on either Tuesday or Wednesday due to a reported hamstring strain. Gallup, 29, had previously announced his retirement in July 2024 but decided to return to the NFL earlier this year, signing with Washington in March.

Both Brown and Gallup were expected to bring veteran experience and depth to the receiving corps. With two key players now sidelined, the Commanders will likely need to reevaluate their depth at wide receiver and monitor these injuries closely as training camp approaches.
