Follow along live for exclusive access and insight from The Athletic’s writers as NFL training camps continue this week.

Christian Gonzalez, the third-year rising star cornerback for the Patriots, suffered an apparent lower-body injury during Monday’s practice, but he was able to walk off the field without help from trainers. He went to the team’s injury shed to be examined by trainers and didn’t return to the field after suffering the injury.
It’s unclear how serious the injury is or whether or not Gonzalez might have to miss extended time. Mike Vrabel talked before Monday’s practice and isn’t scheduled to speak to the media again until Wednesday, so an update might not come for a couple of days.
Outside of Drake Maye, there might not be a more important player to the Patriots this season. Last season, Gonzalez played as one of the league’s best cornerbacks despite being mired on a bad team while facing the opponent’s No. 1 receiver each week.
Gonzalez turned 23 last month and was off to a strong camp as he looks to cement himself as one of the game’s top corners this season.
