Josey Jewell had a significant role in the Denver Broncos‘ 2023 season defense. There are concerns about whether the organization will retain his services or look elsewhere for their LB room given his productive numbers.

Thankfully, Jewell’s future with the team is looking bright, so supporters who adored his performance may relax.

Josey Jewell and the Denver Broncos will begin talking during the 2024 draft combine.
Broncos fans who like watching Jewell play have reason to celebrate as Pro Football Rumors’ Sam Robinson revealed that the team plans to speak with Jewell’s representatives during the Draft Combine in order to extend a longer contract offer.

According to Mike Klis of 9News, the Broncos are anticipated to meet with Jewell’s camp during the Combine. During the previous season, Jewell fulfilled the terms of a two-year, $11MM contract by starting every game with Alex Singleton. The only players from Joseph’s HC stay that are still active are Jewell, Simmons, and Courtland Sutton. The Combine is open from February 26 to March 4. Up to the beginning of the legal tampering period on March 11, the Broncos will be the only team allowed to negotiate with Jewell.

Through 2023, Jewell proved to be a solid player for the Broncos under Sean Payton. He concluded 2023 as one of the team’s best middle linebackers, recording three pass deflections, two forced fumbles, three ten-yard fumble recoveries, 3.0 sacks, and sixty solo tackles. He also had three quarterback hits and two tackles for loss.

Josey Jewell’s ties to the Denver Broncos are another factor that makes a return to the team likely. The 29-year-old has been a mainstay in the linebacker room since joining the squad in 2018. He will have an incentive to remain with the squad for an additional two years due to his good relationships.

Though Jewell’s presence doesn’t solve their quarterback shortage, the Broncos should be able to hold their own against some of the best offensive playmakers in the AFC West with the support of a strong defensive line.
