Safety Keon Sabb was a key defensive player for the Wolverines who was lost to the Alabama Crimson Tide through the transfer portal a few days ago. Rumors were circulating leading into spring football that star cornerback Will Johnson of Michigan football may be joining him, but those have since been refuted.

Superstar Michigan football player won’t use the Alabama Crimson Tide transfer portal
No matter how well-liked or skilled a player is, you can never be certain that they will be around for the next season in the age of NIL and the transfer site.

That being said, the speculation that Alabama was about to trade for the Michigan standout is “All Cap,” per sources regarding the father of rising junior cornerback Will Johnson.
Will Johnson has started 16 games in his tenure as a cornerback for Michigan football thus far. He has helped the team to several successful seasons, including a run for the national championship in 2023–24. He was the Wolverines’ Defensive Freshman of the Year and a Freshman All-American in 2022. He improved on this outstanding showing the next year, as he was selected to the First Team All-American.

For Michigan football, keeping Johnson is a huge plus as we approach the 2024 season, the start of Sherrone Moore’s tenure.
