What hurts one program, helps another. With recent Michigan decommit Chris Ewald, at least, this is probably what head coach Brian Kelly and the Tigers are hoping to accomplish. Notably, the excellent 2025 cornerback class is headed in the right direction to make it happen, as he will visit Baton Rouge in early March to recruit for LSU football.

A recent decommitment from Michigan ensures an early March visit by LSU football recruiters

It’s reasonable to assume that other institutions will contact a hard-hitting, ball-hawking, top-100 cornerback who announces his decommitment from the defending national champs.
Relatively surprisingly, for gifted class of 2025 four-star Chris Ewald, this was the exact situation he chose when he decided to reopen his recruitment in the middle of January. His choice to sign back in December 2022 probably surprised a lot of people at first, but given the current coaching turnover in the Wolverine program, it makes sense.

Now that he is approaching his senior season and has received over 20 offers, Ewald will probably want to take his time before choosing again. This, in turn, helps to explain his extensive schedule of springtime visits, one of which is scheduled with none other than LSU football recruits on March 9.
Out of the five scheduled visits, his trip to Baton Rouge will be his second; the others are Miami on March 8, Auburn on March 19, Texas A&M on March 23, and Tennessee on April 6.

You’ll struggle to find a more productive cornerback in the whole class of 2025, as rated by 247Sports Composite as a four-star prospect and the 93rd best player in the country.

The Hollywood, Florida, product finished three seasons with Chaminade-Madonna Prep with 100 tackles, 32 passes defended, and seven interceptions.

Texas, Auburn, Florida, Georgia, Miami, Michigan, Notre Dame, Oregon, and Georgia are among his top offers.

Now that LSU is coming to town in a few weeks, expect coach Brian Kelly and the Tigers to try to entice the gifted junior away from the Sunshine State.
