The Seattle Seahawks selected 10 rookies in last year’s draft, presenting a significant opportunity for these newcomers to shape the franchise’s future.

With the successful picks of cornerback Devon Witherspoon and receiver Jaxon Smith-Njigba in the first round, the Seahawks secured a prominent position in Bleacher Report’s assessment of the 2023 draft classes. Seattle claimed the fifth spot in the rankings, trailing only the Detroit Lions, Green Bay Packers, Los Angeles Rams, and Houston Texans.

According to Bleacher Report, only three rookies earned Pro Bowl honors this season, and Devon Witherspoon was among them. The fifth overall pick showcased an impressive performance, tallying 16 passes defended, a pick-six, and three sacks, all while conceding just 5.4 yards per target. Witherspoon’s contribution underscored the Seahawks’ success with their initial draft selection.

However, the Seahawks’ drafting success extended beyond Witherspoon. Jaxon Smith-Njigba assumed a significant role within the team, despite the presence of established receivers DK Metcalf and Tyler Lockett. Smith-Njigba’s performance included 63 receptions for 628 yards and four touchdowns, signaling promising potential as the team’s third receiver.

Moreover, the Seahawks strengthened their offensive line with Day 3 selections Anthony Bradford and Olu Oluwatimi, both of whom have the potential to become enduring starters for Seattle in the future.

With another strong draft class this spring, the Seahawks could solidify their position as one of the NFL’s most promising teams, garnering attention once again for their potential success in the Pacific Northwest.
