Easts Group and the Sydney Roosters are pleased to declare the selection of Peter Newton as Patron for both entities.
Having served as a Director on the boards of Easts Group and the Sydney Roosters for a span of 23 years, from January 2001 to March 2024, Mr. Newton brings extensive experience and a deep understanding of the organizations. Notably, he recently chaired the highly acclaimed 2023 Hall of Fame event for the Sydney Roosters and played a pivotal role as the founding Chair of the Club’s Foundation and Heritage Committees.
Although Mr. Newton has recently retired from his position as a Director of the Easts Group and Sydney Roosters Boards, he continues to serve as the Chair of the Foundation and Heritage Committees.
Mr. Nick Politis AM, Chairman of the Easts Group and Sydney Roosters, expressed his delight in appointing Mr. Newton as Patron, recognizing his remarkable dedication to both organizations spanning over two decades.
“Peter epitomizes the values upheld by our Club. He embodies passion, pride, success, and integrity, and his appointment as Patron of both Easts Group and Sydney Roosters is a testament to his distinguished and exceptional service as a Director for 23 years,” stated Mr. Politis.
During Mr. Newton’s tenure on the Board, the Easts Group experienced significant growth, while the Sydney Roosters achieved numerous milestones, including NRL and NRLW Premiership victories (4 NRL, 1 NRLW), 4 World Club Challenge titles, and multiple Minor Premierships and Titles in lower grades. Additionally, there was notable growth off the field, such as record Membership and Sponsorship numbers, and the establishment of the Sydney Roosters Foundation and Sydney Roosters Heritage Committee.
Mr. Newton holds Life Memberships with both Easts Leagues and the Sydney Roosters Rugby League Football Club, further underscoring his deep-rooted connection and contributions to both organizations.
