Alec Bohm’s stellar performance earned him the title of National League Player of the Week, marking the second consecutive week a Phillie has received the honor, following Trea Turner’s win the prior week. This achievement marks the first time a Phillie has won the award twice in a row since Domonic Brown in 2013.

Bohm’s remarkable week included going 17-for-30 at the plate, boasting a .567 batting average with eight doubles, a home run, and eight RBIs, contributing significantly to the Phillies’ success with five wins in seven road games.

Manager Rob Thomson expressed his pride and happiness for Bohm, acknowledging his consistent performance on both offense and defense. Bohm’s recent success extends beyond just the past week, as he currently holds a 12-game hitting streak, during which he has accumulated 10 doubles, three home runs, and 16 RBIs. His ability to consistently produce extra-base hits, including at least one in eight consecutive games and 10 of the last 11, reflects his improved approach at the plate and enhanced strength.

Drafted by the Phillies as the third overall pick in 2018 primarily for his batting prowess, Bohm has addressed previous concerns about his defensive skills and power potential. Statcast data shows a significant improvement in his defensive performance this season compared to previous years. Additionally, Bohm’s offensive output has been impressive, as evidenced by his 97 RBIs last year and current ranking as second in the National League with 26 RBIs this season.

Thomson attributes Bohm’s success to his consistent approach at the plate and his ability to make contact while utilizing the entire field. Bohm’s reliability in driving in runs has solidified his position as the cleanup hitter for the Phillies in recent games, a role he continues to excel in.

Teammates, including Bryson Stott, have praised Bohm’s consistency and ability to deliver in clutch situations, highlighting his remarkable skill and versatility at the plate.
