The Auburn Tigers are well-positioned to secure a highly-rated defensive back, according to recent predictions from recruiting services.
Another prediction on the 2025 recruiting trail favors Auburn. Both Steve Wiltfong, On3’s vice president, and Chad Simmons, director of recruiting, have projected that the Tigers will land four-star safety Anquon Fegans from Thompson (Ala.).
On3 ranks Fegans as the 78th-best recruit nationally and the fifth-best safety. Additionally, 247 Sports’ Crystal Ball also predicts Fegans will choose Auburn. On3’s Recruiting Prediction Machine (RPM) gives Auburn an 80.8% chance of securing Fegans, with all 247 Sports predictions pointing to his commitment to Auburn.
The Tigers have been aggressively pursuing top recruits from Thompson. Last week, On3 predictions indicated that Auburn would land four-star edge Jared Smith. Fegans is set to announce his decision on July 29, and Smith’s announcement will follow on August 4. These dates coincide with Auburn’s Big Cat Weekend, positioning the Tigers to potentially land two top players in a week.

Currently, Auburn has the 16th-best recruiting class according to On3 and the 14th-best according to 247 Sports. They rank eighth in the SEC on 247 Sports and ninth on On3.
Head coach Hugh Freeze is striving to elevate Auburn’s recruiting class to the top five. The Tigers were recently in the top 10 before losing key commits. Securing two four-stars (with Smith being a five-star on 247 Sports) would significantly boost their rankings, potentially moving them back into the top 10 and helping them surpass other SEC schools.
