The Houston Astros made a significant move on Monday by acquiring starting pitcher Yusei Kikuchi from the Toronto Blue Jays to strengthen their rotation. Now, they’ve added another piece to their bullpen.

According to Jack Curry of the YES Network, the Astros have traded with the New York Yankees to acquire relief pitcher Caleb Ferguson.

Ferguson, a 28-year-old reliever, has been a key player for the Yankees this season. He has appeared in 42 games, recording a 1-3 record with a 5.13 ERA, a 1.50 WHIP, a 2.6 K/BB ratio, a save, 10 holds, and a blown save.

While Ferguson may not be a flashy acquisition, the Astros evidently see potential in him to enhance their bullpen.

In exchange for Ferguson, the Astros gave up a minor leaguer and international pool money.

It will be interesting to see how Ferguson performs in Houston. His season in New York has been challenging, but a change of scenery could reduce the pressure and help him regain his form.

Expect to hear more about the Astros in trade rumors, as this move may not be their last.
