Brian Kelly and his team experience a setback as Georgia cornerback Jaylen Bell withdraws his commitment, prompting ongoing efforts to revamp the secondary.

Brian Kelly and the LSU football staff are persistently focused on reshaping the secondary and securing talent for the team’s future.

In a development on Friday, the Tigers faced a setback as 2025 three-star cornerback Jaylen Bell announced on social media that he is no longer committed to the team. Bell, who had been committed to the Bayou Bengals since December 2022, has opted to reopen his recruitment and explore alternative options during his senior campaign.

Despite this loss, LSU, with the recent addition of secondary coach Corey Raymond, has been actively engaged on the recruiting trail, particularly targeting prospects for the 2025 class.

The Bayou Bengals played host to highly-rated prospects during a recent event, welcoming 2025 five-star safety DJ Pickett and 2024 five-star ATH Terry Bussey on Wednesday.

During his visit, Bussey, slated to transition to a defensive back at the collegiate level, received special attention from Coach Raymond. Despite being committed to Texas A&M, Bussey is in the process of assessing his options before officially signing on National Signing Day next week. He stands as a primary target for Brian Kelly and his coaching staff in the 2024 recruiting cycle.

In the case of Pickett, LSU is making significant strides in his recruitment, particularly as the program undergoes a restructuring of its secondary.
