The 2024 NFL regular season is approximately 23 weeks away, and the Minnesota Vikings are currently projected to win 6.5 games as of late March.

Here are the five Vikings players most likely to break out in the upcoming season, listed in ascending order based on their potential impact:

5. Jaquelin Roy (DT):
With the Vikings missing out on key defensive tackle signings in free agency, Roy, entering his sophomore season, has an opportunity to make his mark, given the relatively open depth chart at his position.

4. Jalen Nailor (WR):
Despite injury concerns, Nailor has a chance to compete for the WR3 role following the departure of K.J. Osborn. If he can stay healthy, Nailor has shown flashes of promise and could contribute significantly to the receiving corps.

3. Blake Brandel (OG):
Brandel is poised to start for the Vikings in 2024 unless a new signing or draft pick changes the equation. Under the coaching staff led by Kevin O’Connell, Brandel has the potential to break out and solidify his place on the offensive line.

2. Mekhi Blackmon (CB):
As one of the top rookie cornerbacks in 2023, Blackmon has already demonstrated his ability on the field. With opportunities ahead in the depth chart, he could further establish himself as a standout cornerback for the Vikings.

1. Sam Darnold (QB):
Returning to the starting role after a hiatus, Darnold has the chance to prove himself in the Vikings’ offense, which is conducive to quarterback success. With the right support and system, Darnold could emerge as a significant contributor, akin to a Baker Mayfield-like resurgence.

As the NFL draft approaches, the team’s dynamics may change, but these players stand out as potential breakout candidates for the upcoming season.
