The St. Louis Cardinals are looking to bolster their bullpen, which currently ranks 12th in baseball with a 3.63 ERA in 15 games. While they’ve shown flashes of success this season, their performance has been inconsistent.

As the 2024 season progresses, trade rumors are bound to swirl, and the struggling Chicago White Sox could become sellers. Among their potential trade assets is 27-year-old flame-throwing pitcher Michael Kopech, who has excelled since transitioning to the bullpen this season.

According to USA Today Sports’ Bob Nightengale, Kopech’s impressive performance has made him a valuable trade target, with a fastball exceeding 100 miles per hour and a stellar 2.16 ERA in six appearances. With Kopech under team control until 2026, he could be a significant addition to the Cardinals’ bullpen.

Despite their talent, the Cardinals recognize the need to strengthen their bullpen, and acquiring Kopech from the White Sox could be a strategic move to address this area of concern.
