Small forward Lachie Fogarty has signed a two-year contract extension with Carlton, keeping him with the Blues until at least 2026.

The 25-year-old joined Carlton during the 2020 trade period after a brief stint with Geelong, where he was drafted at Pick 22 in 2017 and debuted in 2018, playing 23 games for the Cats.

Fogarty has had an impressive start to the 2024 season, ranking first in the competition for tackles inside 50 during the first four games, which helped secure his contract extension. Despite missing six games this season due to a fractured wrist, he returned in Round 11.

Fogarty faced injury setbacks during 2021 and 2022, but since returning in Round 14 last year, he has been performing at his best.

Known for his pressure in the forward line and being a reliable, clean ball-winning attacker, Fogarty’s forward skills are a significant asset to Carlton. The 25-year-old has cemented his place in the Blues’ best 23.

Fogarty has played 61 AFL games and reached his 50th in Round 21 last year. With this extension, he could potentially play his 100th AFL game with the Blues.

Carlton Head of List Management, Nick Austin, expressed the club’s excitement about extending Lachie Fogarty’s contract for another two seasons.

“Lachie plays a crucial role in our forward structure, contributing significantly to our contest and pressure,” Austin stated.

“Internally, he is often praised for his selfless approach to the game, always striving to enhance his teammates. It is gratifying to see Lachie starting to receive the external recognition he gets from everyone at the football club.

“We’re eager to see what he can achieve in the Navy Blue over the next two years and believe his best football is still ahead of him.”

The Blues face a significant matchup this weekend against Essendon on Sunday night at the MCG.
